Olympus: Yet another DSLR has been launched by Olympus. The E-620 is a 12.3MP camera with features of the new E-30, but nearly the size of the smaller E-420. It has image stabilisation, plus a 2.7" tilt and swivel LCD. From the E-30 come a selection of Art Filters, a Multiple Exposure mode, a choice of 4 aspect ratios.

Olympus E-450: An upgrade of the company's tiny DSLR has been launched. The E-450 is basically the same as the previous E-420 but has 3 Art Filters, a new processor and improved LCD. Expected to cost £450 and be available in May.
Canon PowerShot SX1 IS: The camera website dpreview.com has a new review of the Canon PowerShot SX1 IS.
Canon EOS 500D: a new DSLR has been launched. Called the EOS 500D (Rebel T1i), it has a 15.1 mp APS-C CMOS sensor and HD video recording. It will cost £869.99 and be available in May. The US price tag is expected to be $799.99. The huge difference in price is the subject of a debate in Amateur Photographer magazine, with Canon responding to criticism from UK customers.

Placed between the D60 and D90 cameras, it is expected to be a rival to Canon's 500D. Due out next month (May) and expected to cost £719.99.

Leica reveals M9 and X1
The new M9, a full-frame M-mount rangefinder (24 x 36mm) with an 18 megapixel sensor has been finally unveiled by Leica. At last, the CCD sensor developed by Kodak means that Leica M-mount lenses maintain their original field of view.

Adobe DNG release v5.5 'release candidate'
Adobe has announced release candidates of v5.5 DNG and ACR raw converter.
It is available for immediate download from Adobe Labs. The update is tested but the version is not yet finalised.

Canon launches PowerShot G11
Canon has unveiled the G11 high-end compact camera to replace the G10. The 14.7mp sensor has been changed to a high-sensitivity 10MP CCD sensor. The lens remains at 28-140mm equivalent, but the new camera gains a tilt and swivel LCD and reduces in size by 2.8 inches.
There is also a dual anti-noise system and the Digic 4 processor.

Leica has revealed the specifications of its medium-format digital camera. The S2 will have Kodak CCD sensor at a massive 37.5 megapixels.
A basic camera with one lens is expected to cost a whopping $30,000 and be available in October.

Nikon world first: camera with projector
The world's first first projector camera has been announced by Nikon. The Nikon S1000pj projects images up to 40in at a maximum of about 2 meters (about 6ft). There is a 5x zoom lens (28-140mm, 35mm equivalent) and a 12.1mp sensor.

Adobe updates DNG, Raw and Lightroom
Adobe has updated DNG to allow for corrections to raw. The company has also release Lightroom 2.4 and Camera Raw 5.4. The new raw update now supports the Canon EOS 500D, Nikon D5000 and 18 Hasselblad cameras.

Olympus launches the Pen E-P1
Return of a legend?
Olympus has launched a revamp of its Pen cameras with the introduction of the digital Pen E-P1. The company says the new digital Pen, a Micro Four Thirds camera, is a compact camera with digital SLR performance.
The Pen E-P1 has interchangeable lenses and is a bit smaller than the E-620 DSLR. It has a 12.3 million pixel sensor and comes in two colours, white and silver. The camera is expected to cost about £700 with a 14-42mm lens.

'Battery safety' firmware
Panasonic has developed new firmware updates that identify genuine Panasonic batteries and prevents the use of third-party packs. The firmware is available for cameras such as the GH1, G1, ZS3 and TS1.
The company says the firmware ensures the safety of its users against possible injuries because of overcharging, internal heating or short circuit in third-party batteries.

Apple update MacBook Pro laptops
A cheaper, smaller, faster MacBook Pro with a longer-lasting battery. What more do you want? Apple has upgraded the MacBook Pro to included a 13-inch model. Oh, and the iPhone has had a makeover, too. It can now shoot video and had a new 3-Megapixel camera.

New Canon 1-Ds this year?
Rumours abound that Canon is about to announce an updated 1-Ds Mark III, with a higher pixel count and further changes to appeal to medium format users.
There is also talk of an updated 1D (probably 1D Mark IV) with a 24x36mm full frame sensor and even faster shooting.

Classic Leica M4 beats the crunch.
A classic Leica M4 'olive' camera has sold for £76,891 (87,600 euros).
It was sold at the Westlicht Photographica auction in Vienna, which raised about £965,530 (more than one million euros) as classic cameras defied the economic downturn.

The update allows manual exposure using the video mode.
Firmware is available for downloading from June 2 at the Canon website.
Adobe releases Camera Raw 5.4:
A new Photoshop Camera Raw version has been released by Adobe.
Camera Raw 5.4 is a 'Release Candidate', which means the update is tested but not yet finalised.
The latest version adds support for 26 cameras and backs, including the Canon EOS 5ooD, Nikon D5000, Olympus E620 and 18 Hasselblad models.
It can be dowloaded now from Adobe's Labs site.

Pentaxhas launched the K7, a 14.6 million pixel DSLR with live view and HD video. Specifications are on the Pentax site.
Panasonic: the company has announced new Leica M and R adapters for its Lumix G Micro system.
The company says: The M Mount Adaptor and R Mount Adaptor are developed under support of Leica Camera AG, making it possible to attach Leica M lenses (DMW-MA2M) or R lenses (DMW-MA3R) on DMC-G1 and DMC-GH1.
